I think most people who meet Emily are often surprised because … how to put this? Well, they think I’m an anti-social ass, and she strikes them as the opposite of an anti-social ass.
It’s not uncommon for people to make remarks that dance delicately around this main point. They show considerable restraint in not inserting the word “actually” in the phrase “You’re wife is cool” between the words “is” and “cool.”
What they don’t realize is two important things:
1. She eats all the time. 35% of my take-home pay goes toward feeding the girl. Emily at work:
2. She is very lazy. the following is actually such a common occurrence that I don’t bother taking photos of it anymore:
You see? I’m a much better man than you think.
Last night MySpace had a “Secret Show” with the Cure at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. The Secret Shows are free shows in smaller venues. As far as LA venues go, the Troub is one of the smallest.
I managed to finagle a wristband from this guy at work and was allowed up into the balcony area where I could get a good view of the stage. Don’t miss the next secret show! Add MySpace Secret Shows to your friends list.
I haven’t really gotten into the whole live-blogging thing, so I live photo-streamed the show instead. Check out my MySpace or flickr photos to see them.
- The iPhone takes really crappy photos (as you can tell from the photos I’ve got here)
- I don’t know any songs they released after “Wish”
- I didn’t change my position all night, so it’s all more or less the same photo repeated many times
Some highlights of the show:
- Pictures of you
- From the edge of the deep green sea
- Just like heaven
- Close to me
- 10:15 Saturday night
- Killing an arab
Despite the puking guy and the urinating guy, I managed to get some photos that don’t completely suck.
This was at the Old Bank District Holiday Block Party. They had lights strung up for a single block.
The greenish tone on City Hall always reminds me of the Lord of the Rings because I’m a big dork.
Note the detail on the Farmers and Merchants Bank Building; you don’t see that anymore on new buildings. We’ve lost our capacity (budget?) for the little fussy bits.
Tribune filed for bankruptcy protection today! I wonder what the Chandlers think.
I like this one the best.
Sir Pabz shared this awesome set of Chalk Shadows from Michael Neff.
Here’s a taste:
The Library of Congress has this and thousands of other photos on Flickr, featuring a lot of color photos from the WWII era.
